Jesus’ Command: Go and Make Disciples

In one of the four gospels, Jesus, after his resurrection from the death and before his ascension to heaven, commanded his followers: “Go, therefore, and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Spirit, teaching them to observe all that I have commanded you. And behold, I am with you always, until the end of the age” (Matthew 28: 19-20).

Go and make disciples of all nations – or go and spread the Good News of God’s love, forgiveness, healing, and providence – is the serious task that Jesus entrusted to the Church. The Church has to do this, not only in terms of discursive teaching of doctrine, but in the very life of the Church, i.e., the examples of faithful witnesses of countless men, women, youth, and children.

In carrying out the command of Jesus, go and make disciples, the Church never ceases to explore all the appropriate means and methods. In our informative and technological world, the INTERNET becomes another way of spreading information. The Church would like to effectively use this method to communicate the Eternal Truth.

Here at St. Mary – St. Paul Parish in Big Rapids, Michigan, volunteers got together to create this website. We hope our website not only offers information about our parish and ministries, but also shows our humble deeds in trying every day to live the great command of Jesus: Go and make disciples.

May God bless you as you visit our website, get to know our community of faith,
